New Delhi: The world doesn't lack inspirational stories of people who overcame their disabilities and didn't let that become a hindrance in their lives.
Be it an unfortunate accident that caused them to lose a limb or a birth defect, only few are strong enough to perceive their disabilities as a strength or see beyond them.
In another story that will inspire millions, a 45-year-old man from Haryana, who was born without hands developed the skill of sewing beautiful clothes with his feet.
Unfortunately, society often displays its insensitive side when it comes to the disabled and Madan Lal was denied admission to a school depriving him of education.
However, he didn't let that pull him down and worked upon himself to go about his daily routine with his feet.
He uses his feet for not just his job, but for everyday things as well – eating, bathing, brushing teeth, shaving and even lighting his 'beedi'.
While his family gave him all the support and stood by him at all times, Madan Lal still faced a lot of prejudice at the hands of the society at every step in life.
Being deprived of education wasn't the only hardship he had to face. He was also denied training when he decided to become a tailor. Since no one was willing to train him, he traveled all the way to another town in search of a tailor who would give him a chance and in no less than 15 days, his mentor said the words he wanted to hear – he told him that he’ll be successful.
Once he finished his training, he returned to his village and set up a small shop. His determination to make something of himself despite his disabilities earned him immense appreciation and respect.
While some people were skeptical of his skills in the initial stages, Madan Lal proved them wrong and now has no dearth of customers.
