Seven-year-old boy wakes up after 11-day sleep
Doctors are trying to find clues about what made the seven-year-old Wyatt Shaw sleep for so long.
New Delhi: A seven-year-old healthy boy from Elizabethtown, Kentucky fell into deep sleep for eleven days after being a ring bearer for his uncle’s wedding.
His mother tried waking him up the next day but he went back to sleep after briefly regaining consciousness.
Doctors are trying to find clues about what made the seven-year-old Wyatt Shaw sleep for so long.
His mother first thought that the wedding left him exhausted and requested the doctors to test Wyatt for everything.
They tested him for parasites, viruses, bacteria and infectious diseases that all could cause symptoms of fatigue but nothing was found.
Doctors gave him medication that is used to prevent seizures and he woke up.
It is still unclear what caused this disorder, but health experts say it could be caused by a disruption in the hypothalamus and thalamus when regulating sleep patterns
