But who knew it could also be used as a way to relieve labour pain? A doctor from Brazil has claimed that dance is the best and effective form of pain relief for women going through labour.

Dr Fernando Guedes da Cunha shares numerous videos on his Instagram account in which he's dancing with women in the labour ward.

Although labour pain can be excruciating, there is some scientific evidence that supports Dr Fernando's technique.

According to experts, dancing can certainly help the birth process as it assists the baby in moving through the birth canal structures.

It helps shift the pressure of the baby pressing on maternal skeletal structures and organs.

Dr Fernando became an overnight sensation in August when a video of him dancing with a mum-to-be to 'Despacito' went viral.

Hospital Unimed Vitória posted the clip on its Facebook page, where it gained over 242,000 views and the 'dancing doctor' – as he has been dubbed – was born.
