Pawan Nayyar is a BJP candidate from Chamba and Kusumpti assembly constituencies.

A Congressman from the beginning, Nayyar quit the party after failing to get a ticket for this year's assembly polls and decided to join BJP. He had also served as the Secretary of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. 


Sitting MLA Bal Krishan Chauhan is present in the electoral fray against the BJP candidate in Chamba.


Pawan had unsuccessfully contested the assembly elections from Chamba in 2007 and 2012 on Congress ticket against BJP's BK Chauhan.


This year, after BJP decided to field Nayyar from Chamba, Chauhan bid his goodbye to the saffron party and announced to contest as an independent candidate.


Nayyar is the son of late Mohan Lal Nayyar. 


He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Himachal Pradesh University. He is a contractor by profession and has no criminal case registered against him.
