With 34 percent forest cover in Keonjhar district, forest fires have become a major headache for the forest department. Due to the daily occurrence of fires in different parts of the district, 150 personnel of the forest department's fire fighting squad have been deployed to control the fire. Keonjhar DFO said that they can control the forest fire with the 157 fire blowers they have.
