Sources confirm to Variety that Verbon is also on board to produce the film with Gail Berman and Alex Schwartz, principals of production house the Jackal Group.

The Addams Family was brought to life in the form of single-panel gag illustrations by cartoonist Charles Addams, that appeared primarily in the New Yorker magazine.

The story revolved around Gomez and Morticia Addams and their children named Wednesday and Pugsley.

Their brood also consisted of Uncle Fester and Grandmama, plus their imposing butler Lurch, the disembodied hand Thing and Cousin Itt.

Their popularity led them to get their own TV show in the 1960s, that starred John Astin and Carolyn Jones. It also led to the creation of an animated series in the early 1970s.

The Addams Family was revived, this time in celluloid, in the 1991 film, which starred Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, and Christina Ricci.
