Four minors attempt to rape Hyderabad University student, arrested
The university officials are claiming that the incident took place outside the campus and added that it was a restricted area.
HYDERABAD: A student of the University of Hyderabad was on Friday allegedly sexually assaulted by three unidentified persons inside the campus. She was accompanied by a male friend when the men, believed to be construction workers, attempted to force themselves upon her.
The duo managed to escape from the scene with minor injuries. They reached out to the authorities and informed them of the incident. A case has been registered and a probe has been initiated.
The Gachibowli Police has reportedly arrested four minors in connection with the case. Three of those arrested are 16-year-olds, while one is aged 17. The four believed to be residents of Nallagandla have been booked under IPC sections 375d (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), 394 (voluntarily causing hurt in robbery). They will be sent to a juvenile home.
The university officials are claiming that the incident took place outside the campus and added that it was a restricted area. "The incident took place outside the campus area. It is a restricted area. We don’t want to blame anyone. The university offers all the help required for the injured," University of Hyderabad spokesperson Vinod Pavarala told The News Minute.
He also added that the university has enough security measures in place to prevent such incidents.
