Three dead after Toyota Innova flies off incomplete flyover in Hyderabad
The driver reportedly drove on to the flyover without realising that it was incomplete, leading to the accident.
In what may be an extremely sorry case of civic apathy, a Toyota Innova flew 30 feet in the air off an incomplete flyover in Hyderabad and landed in a pit filled with rain water - killing three of the passengers inside.
According to a report in The Hindu, the car was hired by a family from Sriperumbudur and was travelling to Minjur for an engagement. At around 9:30 in the evening, the driver reportedly drove on to a flyover without realising that it was incomplete, leading to the accident.
While the driver of the MPV somehow managed to survive, three other passengers died instantly. They have been identified as Palani (65), his wife Navaneetham (55) and daughter Pavithra (26). Their son-in-law was also in the car and like the driver, had a miraculous escape.
This is not the first time such an accident has taken place. While careless and drunk driving is a major cause of road accidents, lack of warning signs, abrupt speedbreakers and random potholes too cause a large number of road accidents each year.
