2005 Delhi serial blasts: Mastermind Tariq Ahmed Dar given 10-year sentence, two other accused acquitted
Tariq Ahmed Dar has been given a ten-year sentence for masterminding the 2005 Delhi serial blasts.
Delhi: Tariq Ahmed Dar, accused in 2005 Delhi serial blasts, has been given a ten-year sentence.
On the other hand, Mohammed Rafiq Shah and Mohammed Hussain Fazili, other accused, have been acquitted of all charges.
Charges against Dar and the other two had been framed in 2008 for waging war against the state, collecting arms and murder.
The Delhi Police had said in its chargesheet that Dar's call details allegedly proved that he was in touch with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives.
The 2005 serial blasts had killed over 60 people.
The bombings came two days before the festival of Diwali.
The bombs were triggered in two markets in central and south Delhi and in a bus in south Delhi.
The first blast took place in the main market of Paharganj near the New Delhi Railway Station at around 5:38 pm (IST) and the second had taken place near a bus in Govindpuri area at 6:00 pm.

The third explosion had taken place in south Delhi's Sarojini Nagar market where the bomb is said to have gone off near a vendor using a gas cylinder, which exploded, triggering multiple explosions.
This led to an outbreak of fire in a row of shops.
