New Delhi: All 24 ministers in the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet submitted their resignations to Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday (April 7), PTI cited official sources as saying.
The step comes ahead of the proposed rejig of the Council of Ministers in Andhra Pradesh. After completing the final Cabinet meeting at the State Secretariat, the ministers handed their resignation letters to CM Reddy.
The ministers served in the Andhra government for exactly 34 months.
The Council of Ministers will be reconstituted at Amaravati on April 11, the news agency reported.
As per ANI sources, in the Cabinet reshuffle, only four of the incumbent Ministers are expected to retain their positions. The sources also said that Reddy will submit the final list of new Ministers to Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan before April 9. The new Andhra Pradesh Cabinet may also continue with five deputy CMs.
CM Reddy reportedly had held a meeting with Governor Harichandan on Wednesday night and discussed the cabinet reorganisation. The Andhra CM also handed over the final list of the 19 Ministers being dropped from the Cabinet to the Governor, ANI sources said.
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet reshuffle was earlier slated to take place last December, however, it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Reddy had said last month that the Cabinet reorganisation will take place after Ugadi, the Telugu New Year, which fell on April 2.
