New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met the ISRO chief S Somanath and other scientists of the ISRO team involved in the Chandrayaan-3 Mission. ISRO Chief greeted the PM at ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru. PM Modi congratulatesd S Somanath and the team for the successful landing of Chandrayaan on the Moon on 23rd August.

Visiting the command centre, PM lauded the ISRO scientists with continuous claps and was joined by the entire team of Chandrayaan-3. The PM was given a tour of models of payloads of Chandrayaan-3 - Vikram Lander, Pragyan rover- and other crucial parts of the lunar spacecraft by ISRO chief S Somanath where he explained the importance of the various elements in the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3.



Addressing the ISRO scientists, PM Modi said, "I am feeling a different level of happiness...such occasions are very rare...this time, I was so restless...I was in South Africa but my mind was with you." PM Modi got emotional while addressing the Chandrayaan-3 team and said he wanted to salute the team behind the success of India's lunar mission as soon as possible.



PM Modi Names Landing Site of Chandrayaan-3 Shivshakti 


Addressing the Chandrayaan-3 scientists, PM Modi announced that the spot where Vikram lander landed, that point will be known as ‘Shivshakti’ while the point where Chandrayaan 2 crash-landed on the Moon has been named Tiranga.


India Gets National Space Day


PM Modi further announced that August 23 will be celebrated as National Space Day to mark Chandrayaan 3's landing on the Moon.
