According to sources, terrorists had hurled the grenade targetting a CRPF picket but missed their target. The grenade exploded 100 metres away from picket. One civilian has been injured in the attack who was later rushed to hospital where his condition is said to be stable. The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

All entry and exit points in this area have been blocked and vehicles are being stopped and searched.

According to the information received by police, two terrorists on a motor cycle tried to target the CRPF picket located in Kavadara but the grenade exploded some distance away from the picket.

An eyewitness, Mohammed Issaq said, "I had put my car outside the doctor's clinic, so the explosion took place in the air, I saw my car strewn.''

This attack indicates that the terrorists want to show their presence in the city. Due to the tightness of security forces, it is difficult for a terrorist to carry out any activity.

The grenade attack took place in Srinagar a month after terrorists fired a grenade at the Hari Singh High Street in Srinagar in which about 22 civilians got injured, after which the security forces started a vigil across the city.
