A detailed discussion has been conducted to assess and normalize the situation. The government is monitoring the post-storm situation. With the assessment of the damage caused by the storm, orders have been given to speed up the provision of relief, rescue, communication, and necessary assistance in the current situation. The people's government is working with the people's safety as our first duty, 'Zero Casualty' seriously," Majhi said.

    The landfall process of the severe cyclonic storm Dana was complete on Friday morning and the system took at least eight and half hours to enter the landmass, IMD said.

    The IMD in its hourly bulletin said: "The landfall process has been completed."

    The landfall of 'Dana' started at about 12.05 pm on Thursday night and it took around eight and half hours to end the process. The landfall process was completed at around 8.30 am on Friday, an IMD scientist said.

    The severe cyclone storm which hit the landmass at a wind speed of 110 kmph has weakened and has become a cyclonic storm. The cyclone lay centered at about 50 km north-north west of Dhamra and 30 km of north east of Bhadrak town.

    "The maximum sustained wind speed around the centre of the cyclone is about 80 kmph to 90 kmph gusting to 100 kmph," the IMD said.

    The cyclone is likely to move northwestwards across north Odisha and weaken gradually into a deep depression during next six hours, the IMD said, adding that the system is under continuous surveillance of the Doppler weather radar at Paradip.

    "We are fully prepared to deal with this cyclone, and I urge everyone to cooperate with the administration and police," Banerjee said, reiterating the need for coordinated action during the storm.

    The weather system over the Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph during past the six hours, and lay centred about 210 km southeast of Paradip (Odisha), 240 km south-southeast of Dhamra (Odisha) and 310 km south of Sagar Island (West Bengal), the IMD said its latest bulletin.

    The Ministry of Defence has also stated that medical aid will be provided upon request from state authorities. For this, the Navy is in coordination with units such as Base Victualling Yard (BVY), Material Organisation, and Naval Hospital INHS Kalyani.

    As part of the preparedness, the Navy has stockpiled essential items such as clothing, drinking water, food, medicines, and emergency supplies. Disaster response pallets have been strategically positioned on roads and key areas likely to face damage from the cyclone.

    In addition to naval efforts, flood relief and diving teams are on standby, ready for coordinated rescue and relief operations.

    “It is very likely to move northwestwards and cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island close to Bhitarkanika and Dhamra during midnight of 24th to morning of 25th October as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph,” it said in the latest bulletin.

    "Airport operation will be suspended from 5 pm on October 24 to 9 am on October 25 due to cyclone Dana," the statement said. Over 100 flights operate at the Bhubaneswar airport every day, recording a footfall of nearly about 15,000 people, officials said.

    Earlier, the East Coast Railway had cancelled 198 trains that were scheduled from October 23 to 25 in view of the cyclone.

The government had on Tuesday set a target to evacuate 10,60,336 people from 14 districts. "However, the focus is now only on the coastal belt which is likely to be impacted by the cyclone," an official said. Those who have been evacuated are being provided with dry and cooked food and all other arrangements have been made in the cyclone shelters, he said.
