  • Former Chief Minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy: The farmers have been staging a dharna at Singhu border for the last five days. This is winter season and the harsh winter in Delhi makes anyone shiver. It is not right to leave farmers in such an adverse condition during the COVID-19 pandemic in the interest of their health. The Centre will be responsible if any of the protesters face health problems. In this context, it is better to hear their plea at the earliest.

  • Former Chief Minister of Karnataka H D Kumaraswamy: Farmers Protest in Delhi against the Centre's new agricultural legislation has entered the 5th day. The Centre, which has stated that such laws have been brought in to help farmers, should immediately hold talks with protesters and make efforts to remove their suspicions. Otherwise, the suspicion among farmers & people will continue to grow further. The Centre has appealed to protesting farmers to move to Burari Park if they want it to hear their problems. But farmers have not accepted this as they view it as a pre-condition to initiate talks. Hence it is better to withdraw such a condition. My sincere suggestion is to hear the grievances of farmers at the place where they are presently located or at a place of their choice.

Tomar said, "When farm laws were brought, they caused some misconception among farmers. We held two rounds of talks with farmer leaders on October 14 and November 13. At that time too we had urged them to not go for agitation and that the government is ready for talks."

The farmers, who had on November 29 announced that they would blockade five points of entry into Delhi in coming days while rejecting the Centre's offer to hold talks once they move to the Burari ground, said they have come for a decisive battle and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to their "mann ki baat".

Earlier on Sunday, Union Home minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Tomar also held a meeting at BJP President JP Nadda's residence.

Farmers amassed on the borders of the national capital on Sunday refused to move to the Burari ground in the national capital where the Centre invited them for talks.

On December 1, the farmers' protests will get into the sixth day.
