Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off a symbolic Dandi March in Ahemdabad on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. The march will see 81 people walk the route that was taken by Mahatma Gandhi and 80 others in 1930 from Ahmedabad to Dandi. The march is suppose to end on April 6.

"Today, is the first day of the Amrit Mahotsav of independence. This Mahotsav has started 75 weeks before 15th August 2022 and will run till 15th August 2023," PM Modi in Ahmedabad.

At least 14 people were injured after a fire erupted at a manufacturing factory of medical equipment in Sahibabad Industrial Area Site 4 on Thursday night. Fire engines reached the spot to douse the fire while several ambulances reached to shift the injured to the hospital. Rescue operations are still underway. Ghaziabad’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kalanidhi Naithani said, "A total of 14 people have been injured in the fire incident. They have been shifted to the hospital. The reason behind fire has not been ascertained yet."
"The Padyatra to be flagged off (today) by Prime Minister will cover a journey of 241 miles from Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad to Dandi in Navsari and will end on 5th April lasting for 25 days. I will lead the first lap of 75 km," said Prahlad Singh Patel, Union Culture Minister.
