Manipur BJP chief S Tikendra Singh dies due to COVID-19

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on Thursday (May 13) will convene a meeting with the Health Ministers of six states including Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu to review the COVID-19 vaccination drive there.

    Dept of Biotechnology, other depts concerned, MEA have been in touch with Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson from beginning. They were officially asked if they'd like to send doses to or manufacture in India, we'll find partners and assist. They had said that they are working in their own way and they would talk of vaccine availability in Q3, in 2021. We are connected to them. I'm hopeful that they'll step forward to increase availability in India. 

    We invite them to manufacture here along with our companies. Johnson & Johnson did a good job, they accepted this offer under Quad. Any vaccine that is approved by FDA, WHO can come to India. Import license will be granted within 1-2 days. No import license is pending.

As states grapple with a shortage of coronavirus vaccines, the Centre Thursday said that over two billion doses will be made available in the country in five months between August and December, enough to vaccinate the entire population. It also said Russian anti-Covid vaccine Sputnik V is likely to be available by next week.
