  • Karnataka government bans weekly markets in the state, allows milk dairies and shops selling essential commodities to operate from 6 am to 12 noon. 

  • Vaccination for the 18 to 44 age group started on May 1. For this, 132 vaccination sessions were organized in 26 districts today. A total of 11,492 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6 pm. In the remaining districts, tomorrow vaccination will start tomorrow: Maharashtra Health Dept (ANI input)

    The plea of Election Commission is listed for hearing on May 3 before a Bench of Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice MR Shah. The Election Commission has said that the appeal is against the "uncalled for, blatantly disparaging and derogatory remarks" made by the Madras High Court. (ANI input)

  • Six COVID-19 patients died in ICU ward and two in main ward due to oxygen shortage on May 1. "We could not save them even after making effort from our end. Since this wave hit the country, we've been demanding oxygen from the govt," Dr SCL Gupta, Medical Director of Delhi's Batra Hospital was quoted as saying by ANI. 

    "Our executive director is in regular touch with govt officers concerned and has been updating them about our oxygen stock. INOX and Goel -- two oxygen suppliers supply us oxygen. Neither of them picks up our call," Gupta added. 

  • Amid spurt in COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand, Dehradun Qazi offered to covert madarsa complexes into COVID-19 care centers. "We're ready to convert all madarsa complexes into COVID care centers. We'll support the govt whatever way possible," Qazi Mohd. Ahmed Qasmi said.

  • I express my condolences to the patients, doctors and hospital staff who lost their lives in the fire accident at Bharuch Hospital. The state government will provide assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the families of each of the victims of the accident: Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani.

New Delhi: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the COVID-19 vaccination drive from May 1 to inoculate the 18-44 age group will take place between 1 pm to 6 pm in five hospitals of Mumbai.
