India`s number of confirmed cases has risen to 2,76,583 which includes with 1,33,632 active, 1,35,205 cured cases while the death toll rose to 7,745, as per the Union Health Ministry data.

  • Ghaziabad: 14 new cases in last 24 hours. Total Positive cases: 541. Total Cured cases: 342. Active Cases: 182.

  • Delhi: 1,501 new cases reported in the national capital in the last 24 hours. The total jumped to 32,810. The death count increased to 984.

     

  • Tamil Nadu: Record 1,927 in 24 hours take the total to 36,841; active 17,179. The death count at 326.

    Chennai: 1,390 new cases take total to 25,937; active now - 13,085.

While on June 8, several states and UTs reopened places of worship, shopping malls and restaurants, which is in line with the Centre's Unlock 1.0 plan. Some states, including Delhik, also allowed hotels to restart subject to the prescribed guidelines for social distancing and personal as well as public hygiene measures.


Meanwhile, India Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said over five million RT-PCR tests to detect SARS-CoV-2 - the virus behind COVID-19 pandemic - have been done in the country. Till June 6, a total of 50,30,700 samples were tested across the country.


Globally, at least 72.27 lakh people have been infected with the number of fatalities touching the 4.11 lakh mark.
