Maharashtra Political Crisis Live Updates: Amid the political crisis in Maharashtra triggered by a rebellion by a large section of Shiv Sena MLAs, who are currently camping in Assam, sources have now learned that they are likely to stay for more days at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati and are unlikely to return before July 5. "Rebel Maharashtra MLAs likely to stay for more days at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Guwahati, Assam. The hotel was booked till July 5 and the booking can now be extended as per requirement," sources said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court Monday (June 27, 2022) commenced hearing on the pleas of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs, led by minister Eknath Shinde, against the disqualification notice issued by the deputy speaker to them and asked why they did not move the Bombay High Court in the matter.
Earlier, it was reported that Rebel MLA Eknath Shinde had a conversation with MNS chief Raj Thackeray about the current ongoing political drama between the two factions - the Uddhav Thackeray camp and Eknath Shinde camp. Eknath Shinde claims to have the support of 38 MLAs of the 55 Shiv Sena legislators, which is more than two-thirds of the party's strength in the 288-member Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. This allows Shinde to leave the Shiv Sena and form another political party without being disqualified from the state assembly.
However, Maharashtra deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal has sent notices to the 16 Shiv Sena rebel MLAs. The MLAs have to be present in Mumbai on Monday for the hearing of disqualification. Notably, Zirwal has earlier approved the appointment of Ajay Choudhary as Shiv Sena Legislative party leader. Shiv Sena supporters came out in huge numbers, on Sunday, to protest against Shinde's rebellion.
