He bashed the saffron party for not giving the ticket to late MLA Mukta Tilak's family member. He also mentioned that the party made the ailing Girish Bapat campaign for the polls in a wheelchair.

    After losing in the Kasba Peth bypolls, the BJP is hoping to win in the Chinchwad constituency. The saffron party candidate Ashwini Jagtap, at the end of the 20th round of counting, has received around 71,000 votes. On the other hand, NCP's Nana Kate has gotten 61,549. He has been trailing behind Jagtap since the first few rounds of counting. Independent candidate Rahul Kalate who had shown a lot of promise has only received 23,255 votes in comparison to the two big contenders.

    In the Maharashtra Assembly House, Deputy CM and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis commented on the bypoll results for Pune's Kasba Peth and Chinchwad constituencies. He said that the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance has accepted the bypoll result in Kasba Peth where Congress won after over 28 years. However, he said the Opposition must also accept the result of the Chinchwad bypoll where the BJP is leading. "You have to find solace in one bypoll win and announce it in the House. You have to introspect like we will do about the Kasba defeat," he said as quoted by PTI.

    While the Congress won in Pune's Kasba Peth, the counting of votes is still underway in the Chinchwad constituency. At the end of the 19th round of counting, BJP candidate Ashwini Jagtap was still leading with 64,300 votes and NCP's Nana Kate trailed behind at 55,747 votes. Meanwhile, Rahul Kalate received 22,700 votes at the end of the 19th round.

    The Maha Vikas Aghadi is over the moon after defeating the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance at their bastion Kasba Peth. After over 30 years, the party has lost its seat in the constituency. Reacting to the results, BJP candidate Hemant Rasane expressed that he fell short as a candidate and not the party. He thanked the party for giving him a chance to contest but said he wasn't able to win. Rasane said that he accepted the outcome and will reasons behind his defeat.

MVA workers took to the streets soon after the results were announced and Dhangekar's win was confirmed. In several videos, they were seen dancing on the streets while spreading gulal on one another.

The results aren't out yet but early trends have been in favour of Congress.

    According to the data from the Pune district information office, Kasba Peth has a total of 2,75,428 voters. Here's their gendered division - 1,38, 550 (women), 1,36,87 (men), and 5 (transgender persons). Chinchwad constituency has a total of 56,8954 eligible voters, lesser in comparison to Kasba Peth. These elections are important to establish if it is the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance or the NCP which has power and trust of people in the state.

Jagtap has received a total of 32,288 votes till now in comparison to NCP's Nana Kate and independent candidate Rahul Kalate who have received 25,922 and 10,705 votes in total respectively.

    Jagtap seems to have an edge against the other candidates but the contest can turn upside down as many more rounds of counting are remaining in Chinchwad.

The turnout of the bypolls wasn't surprising as it is usually lower than for assembly or general elections.

    The three main contenders in Chinchwad are - Ashwini Jagtap (BJP), Nana Kate (NCP), and Rahul Kalate (Independent). According to early trends, Ashwini Jagtap and Nana Kate are leading the contest with 24,417 and 20,318 votes respectively till now.

    Whereas the independent candidate who was expected to pose a strong challenge to the BJP and NCP - Nana Kate has received  8,239 votes in total.

He was leading by 2,900 votes but now he is leading by 1,577 votes after the 7th round. In total, Dhangekar has received 23,000 votes so far and Hemant Rasane got 20,353 votes.

    The Pune Divisional Office of Information shared photos and videos from the counting process in Kasba Peth. The counting of votes is underway at Food Corporation of India's warehouse in Pune's Koregaon Park.

    After the first round of vote counting in Pune's Kasba Peth, Congress candidate Dhangekar got 5,844 votes whereas BJP candidate Heman Rasane got 2,863 votes. Dhangekar was leading by 2981 at the time and continues to do so after the 5th round.
