The death toll in Himachal Pradesh from the heavy rainfall has increased to 72, according to officials, with the recovery of one additional body from the rubble of a landslide affected Shiv temple in this area's Summer Hill. When the landslide occurred on Monday, the temple was filled with worshippers. Eight people are still thought to be buried under the rubble.

Uttarakhand Rains: IMD Predicts Rainfall
The IMD forecasts the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and sporadic to widespread light to moderate rainfall. From August 15 to August 19, intermittent heavy downpours are expected in Uttarakhand.
A large amount of rain is also anticipated to fall in remote areas of the Uttarakhand districts of Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar. Thunderstorms with lightning and intense to extremely intense spells are anticipated in the districts of Uttarakhand.

Weather Update: IMD Predicts 'Heavy Rainfall' For Muliple Indian States
In its most recent bulletin published on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted that'very heavy rainfall' would occur in the eastern states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha between now and August 21. From now through the following four days, there may be a few isolated areas of severe rain in the northeast.
Himachal Pradesh: Over 780 People Rescued From Flood Affected Areas In Kangra District
Over the past 48 hours, Western Air Command helicopters have conducted more than 50 sorties, saving more than 780 people from flood-affected areas in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, according to Indian Air Force authorities.
Speaking on the ongoing relief and rescue operations in Fatehpur sub-division of Kangra district, Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Nipun Jindal, told ANI, "A total of 800 trapped civilians were rescued on August 15. Further rescue operations are underway with the help of NDRF, the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force. All necessary arrangements have been made for those rescued so far. Relief camps have also been set up for them."
Earlier, on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit regions of Indora and Fatehpur in the Kangra district.
Punjab Rains: Multiple Villages in Ropar, Gurdaspur and Pathankot Districts Submerged
The low lying region of Punjab were submerged in water produced from the Bhakra and Pong dams in Himachal Pradesh. Following the release of dam waters, more than 15 villages in Ropar district and close to 50 villages in the Beas catchment area of Gurdaspur district have been inundated. Himanshu Aggarwal, the deputy commissioner for Gurdaspur, stated that because Dera Baba Nanak is within the Ravi catchment area, there was no flooding there.Four NDRF teams have been sent to the Ropar district to conduct rescue operations, and so far, 70 persons, including 38 residents of Harsha Bela village, 17 residents of Palasi village, and approximately 11 residents of Johal village, have been led to safety.

As the Indian Air Force and emergency response teams assist in evacuating people from low-lying, vulnerable locations, hundreds of roads are still blocked and schools have been ordered closed. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of the state, claimed that over 2,000 people had been saved by helicopters and boats and were now secure in relief camps.
Rain News: Telangana Prepares For Rainfall As Cyclonic Circulation Intensifies
According to a government official, Telangana is projected to have somewhat widespread rainfall on August 18–20 as a result of an upper air cyclonic circulation over the northeast Bay of Bengal.
In a statement to ANI, Nagaratna, Director at Metrological Centre, Hyderabad said, “At present, the weather situation indicates that the upper air cyclonic circulation lies over the northeast Bay of Bengal. During the next 48 hours, it is likely to move over the north Bay of Bengal and intensify into a low-pressure system and under its influence Telangana is likely to have light to moderate rains during the next days and thereafter.

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu clarified his stand on "Bihari architects" remark to Indian Express. Clarifying on his statement he said, "I did not say anything as such." In a statement to ANI, he said, "The people of Bihar were also stuck here. I got them evacuated by helicopters. Around 200 people from Bihar are still stuck here. They are like our brothers. It is the fault of our structural engineering, they are just labourers"
Himachal Pradesh Landslide: One More Body Recovered After At Temple Collapse Site
On Thursday, another body was found at the scene of the Summerhill temple collapse. Sources claim that the deceased was professor P. L. Sharma of Himachal Pradesh University. Up to eight more victims may still be buried behind debris, bringing the total number of bodies found so far to 14.

Shimla SP, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said in an update that rescue operations are underway while the forces are trying to retrieve dead bodies and resuce people stuck after landslide.
The officer said in a statement to ANI, "We are further planning the line of action. We have to make deep efforts in our rescue and retrieval operations because the impact is so massive. We will try to retrieve the remaining bodies by today evening. Coordinated efforts are being made in this direction. According to the missing report we are suspecting around 7 more people to be stuck here..."
The monsoon rains are wreaking havoc on multiple states with incessant rain affecting the North Indian states. Himachal Pradesh is among the most severely affected states by this years' rain. There have been multiple reports of people losing their in the past three days because of the rainfall. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu expressed shock at the havoc caused by the rain related incidents. Until now, the state has incurred losses of around Rs 7,500 crore in various incidents.
Meanwhile, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted substantial rains in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand over next 4 days. Whereas Jharkhand, Andaman Nicobar, West Bengal and Sikkim will experience light showers.
