Dhanbad: Major train tragedies were averted in Dhanbad and Malda on Thursday.

At 6 am today, a locomotive pilot of a passenger train associated with East Central Railways Dhanbad Division's, detected fish plates were missing from the Railway track.


The pilot at once stopped his train and alerted the officials.


In a similar incident, missing track fittings were noticed on Eastern Railway's Malda (West Bengal) Division at around 8:30 am.


The rail traffic was immediately stopped to avert any train accident and fittings were replaced.


FIRs were lodged in connection with both the incidents.


Reacting to the incident, Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu asked all the Railway staff to remain alert all the time.
