New Delhi: In a major setback to Delhi`s private schools, the Supreme Court on Monday set aside their plea challenging the Delhi High Court order on nursery admissions.

The plea filed by a private schools challenged the nursery admission guidelines issued by the then Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung in December 2016.


As per the new set of guidelines approved by the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, all applicants living in the neighbourhood of the school will be given priority over those living further away.


Apart from this other pointers includes no preference to girl child and guidelines for sibling in the same school. 


The admission process for nursery classes has started from January 15 and will continue till January 31.
