Presidential Polls 2022: Yashwant Sinha, Opposition`s candidate, files his nomination papers

New Delhi: Yashwant Sinha the presidential candidate nominated by the Opposition filed his nomination papers on Monday (June 27) in the presence of several other Opposition leaders such as Congress' Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party's Akhilesh Yadav. As per a PTI report, he handed over four sets of nomination papers to Rajya Sabha Secretary General P C Mody, who is the returning officer for the presidential election.
While he was filing his nomination, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, SP chief AKhilesh Yadav, DMK's A Raja, NC leader Farooq Abdullah were also present at the venue.
The NDA has nominated tribal leader and former Governor of Jharkhand Draupadi Murmu as their Presidential candidate. Although the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wasn't present during the Opposition's meeting to decide on a Presidential candidate, he and his party Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has extended support to Yashwant Sinha.
