Rudraprayag Landslide: 13 Buried Under Debris In Flash Floods
Twelve people have gone missing after a flash flood in a waterfall swept away three shops near Gaurikund on the Kedarnath yatra route,
Rudraprayag: A landslide at Gaurikund in Rudraprayag buried at least 13 people under the debris following heavy rains on Thursday night. The flash flood occured in a waterfall also washed away three shops near Gaurikund on the way to Kedarnath yatra, news agency PTI quoted officials as saying on Friday. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel launched relief and rescue operations but none of the missing people have been located yet, Circle Officer Vimal Rawat said from the spot to PTI.
Relief and rescue efforts are being hampered by heavy rains and boulders falling from the hillsides intermittently, they said. He said information about the missing people, including some from Nepal, is being collected.
Officials identified the missing as Vinod (26), Mulayam (25), Ashu (23), Priyanshu Chamola (18), Ranbir Singh (28), Amar Bohra, his wife Anita Bohra, their daughters, Radhika Bohra and Pinki Bohra, and sons Prithvi Bohra (7), Jatil (6) and Vakil (3).
