Tamilisai Soundararajan stepped down from her position as the Governor of Telangana on Monday. The former governer is likely to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in the state. Her resignation was submitted in Delhi, with a letter addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, citing the reasons for entering in mainstream politics.

Sources told the Zee news TV that Soundararajan is anticipated to be included in the BJP's forthcoming list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.


Who is Tamilisai Soundararajan Likely To Reenter Politics? 


Born on June 2, 1961, Soundararajan is the daughter of veteran Congressman Kumari Ananthan. She commenced her professional journey as a medical doctor following the completion of her M.B.B.S. and P.G. in Gynecology (DGO). For seven years, she served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gynecology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai before resigning in 2003 to fully dedicate herself to political activities. 


She was Tamil Nadu BJP chief till 2019 and later appointed as Telangana Governor in September 2019. She assumed the role of Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry following the removal of Kiran Bedi from the position. 


Soundararajan has been associated with the BJP for more than twenty years, Coming from the influential Nagar community, Tamilisai suffered a significant defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in Thoothukudi against DMK’s Kanimozhi.
