New Delhi: Two terrorists were killed on Friday (April 17) in a gunbattle with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. According to reports, the encounter started at Diaroo Keller village in Shopian in south Kashmir today after a cordon and search operation was launched by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with 44 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group (SOG) on Thursday night.

Inspector-General of Police, Jammu told ANI that two weapons have been recovered from the killed terrorists.


A police official said they had received specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. He said the search operation turned into an encounter after terrorists fired upon security forces, who retaliated.


Meanwhile, identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists are being ascertained.
