Google search on mobile to turn more up-to-date vis-a-vis desktop results
Google is set to offer a twist to its online searches on mobile devices with up to date search results compared to those on the desktop.
"Google is going to create a separate mobile index within months, one that will be the main or “primary” index that the search engine uses to respond to queries. A separate desktop index will be maintained, one that will not be as up-to-date as the mobile index", said a Search Engine Land report.
Google has been on the idea since 2015. The continued growth in the number of mobile users might have finally convinced the tech titan to push through with it.
Though it is still unclear, how soon would Google launch the separate index for mobile. Google will be running its ranking algorithm differently for purely mobile content rather than the current system that extracts data from desktop content to determine mobile rankings.
