New Delhi: Internet usage is spreading like wildfire. The inquisitiveness to know the modern world better and the urge to stay connected all the time has led to further serious use of internet 24x7.
Thanks to Wi-Fi, our desire to connect with the internet world has become much more convenient. However, sometimes the speed required to connect to internet creates a huge impediment.
There are a couple of reasons why your Wi-fi slows down from time to time. If you can analyse the problems, you can easily find the solutions too –for sometimes the solution lies in identifying the problem.
Here are five reasons that slow down your internet speed and know how to fix it.
Position of the router
It is very important to know the position to locate the router. The position can tamper with the speed and connectivity. Don't keep your router inside a drawer while it peeps out of a small hole. Place it in an allevated position, preferrably above 4 feet height and in an open area.
External disturbance
Sometimes external disturbances too affect the working of the Wi-Fi speed. Know if there is such external disturbance from electromagnatic area. Things like even microwave ovens can cause interference with your Wi-Fi network. Devices using 2.4 GHz band can range from ISM band devices, security cameras, ZigBee devices, Bluetooth devices, video senders, cordless phones etc.
Distance from the router
Internet speed may sometimes widen if you are far away from your router. Calculate the distance. If you stay in a 1000 sqft house, you can make do with one router, but if you have a duplex, spread over double the space you might need another router. More the distance, slower the speed and connectivity.
Usage of wifi
Sometimes extensive usage of Wi-Fi can also slow down its speed. For instance if you download too much, it will hamper the speed of your internet. Prioritise your option. If you must, download at night.
Secured password
People can easily hack into your Wi-Fi password and use your connection. So be very careful with your password security. Keep it well protected so that you keep your connection away from unnecessary sharing.
