New Delhi An earthquake measuring 4.5 on Richter scale struck Jammu and Kashmir in the morning of Saturday. While no damage to life or property has so far emerged, local media reports that many people in several cities in the state came out of their residences to protect themselves.


The quake. according to Indian Meteorological Department, occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers and the resulting jolt was felt for a few seconds across most parts of the state. The IMD has classied the intensity of the quake as 'slight'.
