Srinagar: In the first major anti-terror operation post Ramzaan, four terrorists were killed in an encounter by the security forces on Monday morning in north Kashmir's Bandipora district.

The encounter is currently underway.


Last week, on June 14, two militants and an Army jawan were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district.


On the same day, the government decided to resume anti-terrorist operations, suspended during the month of Ramzan, giving free hand to security forces to deal with the terrorists.


On March 16, the government had directed security forces in Jammu and Kashmir to follow what it called "non-initiation of combat operations" during the holy month of Ramzan.
