RANCHI: A Jharkhand man travelled across 65 villages on a bicycle in search of his mentally unstable wife.
A daily wage labourer from Jharkhand, Manohar has been married to Anita for the last 16 years. The couple has a 14-year-old son.
Anita, along with her son, went to visit her paternal home Kumrasole village in the Paschim Medinipur district. On January 11, she stepped out of home but lost her way.
Manohar, who at the time worked in Odisha, immediately quit his job and started looking for his wife. He filed two missing diaries at Dumaria and Musabani police stations near Kumrasole village.
Instead of waiting for police action, he then took out his old cycle, repaired it, and went on this massive voyage to find Anita. Alongwith, he carried her photograph and got her missing report published in local newspapers.
Finally, someone recognised Anita from the newspaper pictures and took her to Kharagpur police station. The cops then contacted the Musabani police station, who in turn informed Manohar.
Manohar, who was at Ghatsila in East Singhbhum, at the time, pedalled all the way to Kharagpur and met his wife.
Anita had wandered for over 120 km along National Highway 6 towards Kolkata.
