Shimoga is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka and went to polls on April 23.

Shimoga registered 76.40 percent voter turnout in 2019, a gain of 4.1 percent. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1675975 while the total voter turnout is 1280519. While in 2014, the constituency registered 72.30 percent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 1561287 while the total voter's turnout was 1128843.

Guddappa of Bahujan Samaj Party, S Madhubangarappa of Janata Dal (Secular) and BY Raghavendra of Bharatiya Janata Party are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 from Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka.

Voting for Lok Sabha election in Karnataka was held in two phases on April 18 and April 23 and counting will be held on May 23.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, B. S. Yeddyurappa of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – won by getting an overwhelming margin of just over 3.66 lakh votes. He had defeated Manjunath Bhandary of the Indian National Congress (INC). Yeddyurappa had secured 606216 votes while Bhandary got 242911 votes.
