PM Narendra Modi said that he was reviewing the situation in Uttarakhand. PM said, `Am constantly monitoring the unfortunate situation in Uttarakhand. India stands with Uttarakhand and the nation prays for everyone`s safety there. Have been continuously speaking to senior authorities and getting updates on NDRF deployment, rescue work and relief operations.`

  • ITBP rescued 12 people from a tunnel yesterday, these 30 are trapped in a different tunnel. The rescue operation is underway in different areas. More teams will be sent there if it is required, we are focussing on rescuing people from the tunnel first: Vivek Pandey, ITBP Spokesperson told ANI.

  • Uttarakhand: SDRF begins their rescue operation at the tunnel near Tapovan Dam in Chamoli.

  • "2 teams of NDRF are enroute and 3 additional teams have been flown in from Hindon which will reach the spot later in the night.  More than 200 ITBP personnel are on the spot, and one column and Engineering Task Force (ETF) of Army, with all rescue equipment have been deployed.  Navy divers are being flown in and aircrafts/ helicopters of the Indian Air Force (IAF) are on standby," says MHA.

  • PM Modi in West Bengal's Haldia: Uttarakhand is facing a disaster. I am in touch with state CM Trivendra Rawat ji, Union Home Minister and NDRF officers. The rescue operations are underway.

  • Chamoli: ITBP rescues all 16 people who were trapped in the tunnel near Tapovan. 
     

  • NTPC: An avalanche near Tapovan in Uttarakhand has damaged a part of our under construction hydropower project in the region. While rescue operation is on, situation is being monitored continuously with the help of district administration and police.

  • President Ram Nath Kovind: Deeply worried about the glacier burst near Joshimath, Uttarakhand, that caused destruction in the region. Praying for well being and safety of people. Am confident that rescue and relief operations on ground are progressing well.

  • Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat says that 600 personnel from the Indian Army and ITBP are on standby for dealing with any emerging situation and all the rescue teams are doing their best to save lives of missing workers at NTPC (140 nos) and RishiGanga site (17 nos).  

    CM Rawat said that medical teams have been rushed to the affected site and a 30-bed hospital has been kept ready at Joshimath for dealing with this emergency.

    "Hospitals in Srinagar, Rishikesh, Jollygrant and Dehradun are on standby. We are doing our best to deal with this disaster.," CM said.

Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji is personally monitoring the situation & have promised all help. Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji have sent emergency NDRF teams to affected site."

    He added, "Currently teams from Indian Army numbering 100 personnel, including those from engineering task force,250 personnel from ITBP are actively engaged in rescue operations. Army has pressed its 3 choppers into service. Besides Army & ITBP, local police & SDRF is also at the site."

  • Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat says that currently no additional water flows are being reported and there is no flood situation anywhere.

    "Water from the affected site has reached beyond Nandprayag and river was flowing 1 meter above normal levels. No loss has been reported from villages along Alaknanda," CM Rawat said.

New Delhi: At least 10 people are feared dead and about 170 are missing after a glacier broke in Uttarakhand's Joshimath on Sunday (February 7, 2021). SDRF has begun the rescue operation at the tunnel near Tapovan Dam in Chamoli, where a canine squad has also been deployed to carry out the search operation. A flash flood hit the area yesterday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who said that he was reviewing the situation in Uttarakhand, spoke to Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and took stock of the rescue and relief work underway.


Army deployed around 400 personnel in rescue operations besides sending two medical teams to the affected areas. An engineering task force of the Army was also deployed in Ringi village in Joshimath and a control room has been set up in the area. Several Indian Army helicopters have also been pressed into service to assist the civil administration in rescuing people from flood-affected areas


Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat also cautioned against misleading and factless reports on social media about glacial burst that took place in the Rishiganga river. In a social media post in Hindi, CM Rawat said, "Misleading and factless news is being spread on social media by some person regarding the rise in the water level in Joshimath. I request everyone to ignore such rumours, and trust only those sources which are reliable."


Meanwhile, ITBP Spokesperson told ANI, "We've intensified search operation at the 2nd tunnel. We've information that around 30 people are trapped there. Around 300 ITBP jawans are deployed to clear the tunnel. Local administration says that around 170 people are missing."
