Amalapuram (SC) is one of the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies in Andhra Pradesh and is recognised for its massive potential in the agricultural and industrial sectors.

Amalapuram registered 83.90 percent voter turnout in Lok Sabha Election 2019, a gain of 27.36 percent from 2014. The total number of electors in the constituency is 1458788 while 1223856 came out to exercise their franchise. While in 2014, the constituency registered 56.54 percent voter turnout. The total number of electors in the constituency was 2868094 while 1621505 voted.

The first phase of voting in Amalapuram – one of the 25 parliamentary constituencies of Andhra Pradesh where polling was held - ended on April 11. The fate of 10 candidates will be decided on May 23 when counting of votes takes place and the result is declared. The total voter turnout recorded in Andhra Pradesh was 76.69 per cent.

Once upon a time, Amalapuram was a Congress stronghold with wins in the 1962, 1967, 1971 and 1980 Lok Sabha elections. Since, however, TDP has registered strong performances and has mostly swapped power here with Congress.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, TDP's Pandula Ravindra Babu secured 53.04 per cent of the votes to help his party cross the finish line. He received 1,20,576 more votes than YSRCP's Pinipe Viswarupu. Congress' Butchi Maheswara Rao was left licking his wounds at the third spot with a humiliating 12,182 votes in his favour.
