New Delhi: A 7th standard student here on Monday committed suicide after his father could not buy him books and bag as he did not have enough money.

Although the father had assured him get the articles in the next two days, his minor son decided to end his life.


“He asked me for books and bag. I told him I’ll buy that after two days as I don’t have money now. I went to farm and later I came to know of the incident,” india.com quoted the father as saying.


Reportedly, the school administration was pressurising the students to buy books post-summer vacation.


A school teacher, however, said, “We never forced kids to bring bags. In fact we contribute money to buy bags for poor kids. He was a bright child and it was loss for us and school.”
