New Delhi: Stock markets opened in the green on Friday with the NSE Nifty regaining 11,400 on healthy buying across the sectors although global stocks posted very marginal gains.

The BSE Sensex jumped 223.80 points or 0.59 percent to 37,887.36 in early trade. Similarly, the NSE Nifty climbed higher by 58.40 points or 0.51 percent to 11,443.45


All sectoral indices, led by metal, FMCG, realty, auto, banking, PSU, healthcare, infrastructure, power, capital goods, oil and gas and IT, recovered up to 1.38 percent. Major gainers were Vedanta, ITC, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, SBIN, ICICI Bank, RIL, Heromoto Corp and Asian Paints, rising up to 2.42 percent.



Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth a net of Rs 133.78 crore while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth a net of Rs 825.08 crore yesterday, provisional data showed.


MSCI`s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan was up 0.4 percent, a day after it hit its lowest level in a year. Japan`s Nikkei advanced 0.5 percent. MSCI`s index of world stocks rose 0.63 percent on Thursday, the biggest gain in a month.


In US markets on Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.58 percent and the S&P 500 gained 0.79 percent.
