Bengaluru: Samsung India has bagged the most "Innovative Product Award" for its Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris at the Indian Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) technovation awards held here recently.

The IESA technovation awards recognise role models for innovation and excellence in products developed in India for the electronics and semiconductor industry that have had a positive impact on the market.


"Our India R&D team has made significant investments in biometric technology research and we built this product leveraging our knowledge in hardware design, biometrics and security for a high speed scan, greater accuracy and high reliability," said Aloknath De, Chief Technology Officer, Samsung R&D Institute, Bengaluru.


In May 2016, Samsung launched India`s first iris recognition-powered 7-inch tablet "Galaxy Tab Iris" that can be used for various authentication-related processes like e-KYC (Know Your Customer), e-Sign and other government services like Jan-Dhan Yojana and e-Citizen.
