New Delhi: Xioami says it sold over 5 lakh smartphones in less than 72 hours (October 1-3) during the festive sales carried out on ecommerce sites Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal.
Last year, during the festive season, it had taken Xiaomi 30 days to sell the same unit of smartphones.
“We’ve sold 0.5 million phones in less than 72 hours, in three days on Amazon and Snapdeal – and a day on Flipkart – which means 2 phones sold each second,” said Manu Jain, head of Xiaomi’s India operations. “Last year we sold more than 0.5 million units in 30 days during October,” he added.
Jain further informed that Redmi Note 3 was the most popular on Amazon while the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime were most popular on Flipkart.
“Redmi Note 3 was the best selling phone on Amazon during the last three days of sale and Redmi 3S and 3S Prime were the top selling phones on Flipkart,” Jain said.
Stating that most of its products were out of stock, Jain informed the company was working with Foxconn to locally manufacture more smartphones to be availabled in the market before Diwali.
“You can expect another event from us on the Mi portal before Diwali,” said Jain.
