A student of St Joseph’s High School, Panvel, injured her hand after her class teacher allegedly beat her up along with some other students for ‘not bringing a book’ to school on Saturday.
Vishakha Survase, a Class 5 student of the school, got her palm fractured after her teacher, Anjali Chavan, allegedly beat her up with a duster for not bringing the multipurpose book. Vishakha’s parents have registered a case with the Khandeshwar police on late Saturday night.
“The teacher beat her up along with 15-20 students in the class. She was beaten with a duster very badly. Her right hand has been paining ever since. Reports showed that she suffered a fracture. The school has been extremely careless and has not paid heed to our complaint” said Karuna Survase, Vishakha’s mother.
Over the last two years, parents of a few kids studying at the school have been at loggerheads with the school management over the issue of the fee hike. They have alleged that the school is now harassing the students as a tactic to make them pay the hiked fees.
