As many as 12 fire tenders were initially rushed to the spot with emergency personnel battling to bring the blaze under control. The Chief Fire Officer eventually confirmed that the blaze had been brought under control and that everyone was safe. He told news agency ANI that 18 fire engines, 11 tankers and 150 firemen were deployed during the emergency operation. He also said that the cause of the Level-3 fire is being investigated and that the building itself was vacant.

This is the second incident of a major fire in Mumbai in just a few days. Earlier in the week, a massive fire broke out in an upper floor of Scindia House. Five people trapped inside were rescued and it took fire department personnel several hours to finally overcome the challenge of dousing the flames.
