Beijing: A magnitude of 5.1 quake on Monday shivered a county in south-west China's Tibet Region, no casualties and major damage reported.

According to China Earthquake Networks Centre, a moderate quake was recorded in Nyainrong County at 5:34 am and the epicentre was at a depth of about five kms.


There was no report of casualties and damage to houses, officials were quoted as saying by sate-run Xinhua news agency.


"The tremor only lasted for seconds," an official said.


Nyainrong is locted about 4,700 meters above the sea level and it has a population of around 20,000.
