Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday announced that it will be contesting 90 seats out of the total 126 in upcoming Assam Assembly polls.

The decision was taken after BJP's Central Election Committee meeting ended at party headquarter.


Addressing a press conference, BJP leader JP Nadda said that in the meeting decision was taken on candidates who will be contesting on 88 seats. 


Also, BJP's Sarbananda Sonowal will be contesting from Majuli seat Assam and Kamakhya Prasad will contest against CM Tarun Gogoi.


Other BJP candidates will be Atul Bora from Dispur, Manoj Baruah from Bhawanipur, Tapan Gogoi from Sonari, Dilip Paul from Silichar, Aminul Haque from Sonai, Dipak Dev from Badarpur,Sum Ronghang from Diphu.
