Rahul Gandhi to land in poll-bound Assam today

Dispur: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will on Friday visit Assam in the wake of the upcoming Assembly Elections in the state.

Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Silchar district at 1 pm and head straight to upper reaches of Assam.

The Congress leader will meet panchayat-level Congress workers, entrepreneurs, and leaders of tribal groups.

Abdul Hamid, the Congress general secretary in Assam, told The Hindu that Rahul Gandhi would also go on a padayatra in a bid to establish relations with the tribal population, which was largely affiliated with the Asom Gana Parishad.

Notably, the AGP has entered into an alliance with the BJP.
