As soon as the train entered New Cooch Behar station at 11.30 AM, 52 panic-stricken passengers got down from the compartment quickly, two fire tenders from Cooch Behar Fire Station were rushed to the spot which doused the flames.

The train left for New Delhi at 1.08 pm after a thorough checking of the airconditioning system, railway sources said.

The smoke and the flash of fire was noticed on the roof of the 13th bogie from the engine, before its arrival at New Cooch Behar in West Bengal from Dibrugarh, a Northeast Frontier Railway official said in Guwahati.

The NF Railway official said the incident probably occurred due to a brake jam.
