Patna: Bihar Chief Minister and Janata Dal-United president Nitish Kumar on Sunday launched the party's membership drive here, aiming to enlist 50 lakh new members in the state by June 30.

The Janata Dal-United (JD-U) hopes to have 25 lakh news members signing up on the very first day of the drive, a party official said.


Nitish Kumar inaugurated the drive at the JD-U state headquarters here by registering himself as a member and also made 25 new members.


Former JD-U President Sharad Yadav launched the drive in flood-prone Kosi region of the state.


JD-U spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan said all the party law-makers and leaders have been engaged in the membership drive.
