The officials of the Apollo Hospitals here said that she is being given antibiotics and other clinical interventions to treat her infection.

The current treatment plan is based on the detailed discussions the expert group of doctors had with British doctor Richard Beale, the Apollo Hospitals said in a statement on Sunday.

Beale is Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Guy's and St. Thomas Hospital, London.

As per the London hospital's website, Beale is one of its critical care consultants and clinical director.

The 68-year-old leader was admitted to the hospital for proper treatment.

Earlier, there has been a lot of confusion regarding the health condition of the chief minister. There were also unpleasant rumours surrounding her health, prompting the authorities to clamp on the rumour-mongers.

PMK leader S Ramadoss had demanded that either an audio or video clipping of her health condition be released to put an end to the rumours, while DMK president M Karunanidhi had suggested to release a photograph of her.

However, the ruling AIADMK on Sunday dismissed those demands and said the hospital was regularly releasing bulletins about her condition.

"The hospital has been sharing bulletins about her health regularly. Even after sharing the bulletins, what do they expect?," AIADMK spokesperson C R Saraswathi told reporters.

"Every day Ministers are coming and meeting her (Jayalalithaa) since local body elections are around the corner," she said.

On DMK President M Karunanidhi's suggestion to release a photograph of Jayalalithaa to quell rumours about her health, she said, "Even if we do so, he will say it has been photo shopped. He is making such comments just to criticise us."

Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan after participating in Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations in Kanyakumari, also echoed similar views, saying the hospital was releasing updates on the Chief Minister's health condition.

"Bulletins are being issued from hospital and also from the government regularly. Even yesterday, Acting Governor (CH Vidyasagar Rao), had visited Jayalalitha and government released a bulletin. Still what do they expect?," he said to a query on the demand to release a photo of Jayalalitha.
