Unfortunately, five jawans were injured and one died in the accident. The jawans were escorting the Aam Aadmi Party MLA, while he was on his way to Bhanupratappur.

The incident happened when Rai was moving towards Bhanupratappur after attending a press conference in Kanker. While AAP minister's cavalcade was enroute to Bhanupratappur, one of the pilot car's tyre burst out and the vehicle ran into the nearby fields and overturned.

While others who were escorting the Delhi minister stopped to help the injured, Rai's car simply drove away.

However, after attending the program orgainsed by AAP, the Delhi minister did go to the hospital and met the victims but that could not prevent him from being criticized by the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party.

While Congress termed the minister's act as insensitive, BJP called it an act of selfish attitude.
