Raman Singh-mukt Chhattisgarh is my aim: Rebel Congress leader Ajit Jogi
`Only people like me and Amit Jogi, who don`t fear anything, can fight Raman Singh government.`
Raipur: Having declared his intention to break away from the Congress, former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi said that his only aim is to defeat the Raman Singh government in the state.
“Ever since I came back from Delhi, thousands of workers are meeting me and pressurising me to get rid of Rama Singh government and for that to happen I will have to lead,” Jogi said, adding, “We will defeat Raman Singh and form our own government.”
“I will take along new people, especially youth, to end this 'loot' of Chhattisgarh,” he said.
Terming the current leadership of the Congress in Chhattisgarh as 'B-Team' of the BJP, Jogi alleged that the Raman Singh government has forced state president Bhupesh Bhagel and leader of opposition in the assembly TS Singh Dev into silence by threatening to open up old cases against them.
Referring to the allegation against Raman Singh's son Abhishek – who is an MP – of having received kickbacks from AgustaWestland over a deal to buy choppers for the state government, Jogi said, “Why is that Amit Jogi had to raise the issue...didn't they know about it?”
“Only people like me and Amit Jogi, who don't fear anything, can fight them,” he said. Amit Jogi is his only son and a Congress MLA.
Speaking about his next move, Amit Jogi said that he has convened a meeting of his close supporters at Marwahi, his native place, to decide on the future course of action.
The new party's name, symbol and other such details will be finalised at the Marwahi meeting on June 6.
