AAP has become a party of VIPs and VVIPs in 50 days: Congress` Ajay Maken
The chief of Delhi unit chief of the Congress party, Ajay Maken, on Sunday mocked at Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party by calling it a `party of VIP and VVIPs`.
New Delhi: Ajay Maken, the chief of Congress' Delhi unit, on Sunday mocked the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which marked its 50 days in government in Delhi today, by calling it a 'party of VIP and VVIPs'.
Shortly after the AAP government today re-launched an anti-graft helpline number '1035' to make Delhi a corruption free state at Talkatora stadium here, Maken tweeted, “Just passed through the Talkatora Stadium- Look at the pictures- How in just 50 days AAP became a party of VIP&VVIP?.” (sic)
Maken alleged that the event to launch the anti-corruption helpline in the city had separate entries for VIP and VVIP card holders. He further mocked the AAP, accusing its members of 'behaving like VIPs' merely days after coming to power.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Dilip Pandey hits back at Maken, accusing the Congress of 'holding on' to the VIP culture for decades.
Speaking to ANI, Pandey said, "The people who are accusing us of VIP culture must introspect a little. Then they will find that they are the ones holding the VIP culture together for years and decades now. We have only broken these boundaries after coming to power."
The anti-corruption helpline was first launched during AAP's 49-day stint in power after the 2013 Assembly elections, but was later discontinued. Reviving the helpline was one of the major poll promises made by the party this year.
Notably, the Aam Aadmi Party has denounced the 'VIP culture' and always projected itself as a party of 'common man.'
